1911 grips
Adam P asked:

I love that the 1911 has so many different options but is their really much difference between the different kinds of grips? Like what is the difference between the smoothly polished Rosewood 1911 grips compared to something like the 1911 grips that have a really rough texture? Obviously the smooth one might be recommended for concealed carry but is that true? Does it make a difference? Hope you can help.

Our Answer

Adam..thanks for the question. If you ask me, truly, the real difference is which grip feels the best in your hand to you. If you prefer a smooth grip and can handle the gun well with that grip then use that one. Some prefer the rougher texture as it gives a bit more "grab" but honestly it's probably more of an aesthetic appeal than anything else. Some grips are thicker than others so they might feel too big to someone with a small hand, while those with larger hands would prefer a thicker grip.

No matter which set of 1911 grips you end up with, you need to make sure they work for you. That is why there are so many options. The 1911 handgun is arguably the most popular handgun on the planet so it's no surprise that it has a large number of 1911 grips available on the market.

Try em out and see which one you like. The best thing about them is, that if you don't like them you can easily turn around and sell them on Ebay. Check out our selection of 1911 Grips Here.

Some people prefer different styles. The main reasons for different grips are comfort and aimability.

There’s also a certain element of style if you get the right kind of grips, and some people choose their style based purely on looks.

Also, smooth isn’t any better than checkered for IWB carry. The “checkering” (stippling, actually) does help with some people, especially those that has sweatier palms.

I still have the stock grips on my RIA 1911, if it helps any. I’d like to get something a little bit bigger, maybe something that makes it feel like a double stack, which fits my large hands better.
